Julie Forbes

After 25 years of being in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm currently living in Menlo Park, California with my greyhound, Dulce.

My work is split between marketing at a start-up software company (which keeps me on my toes, addressing new & exciting technologies, constantly learning) and teaching stress reduction, based on mindfulness meditation and yoga, at local hospitals (which keeps me grounded, balanced, living in the present). It's a gratifying mix.

Along with Dulce and friends, I spend time hiking in the abundance of open space terrain surrounding us, occasionally get to the beach, and have lots of dog-related play dates. Dulce and I also enjoy spending time raising awareness for greyhound rescue and adoption.

I am very fortunate to have a community of extended family and friends in the Bay Area that includes several Brown graduates -- all of whom I have lived with at some point during the last 25 years, before the spouses and kids arrived on the scene. Diane Hymes and her family live only 30 minutes away; Heidi Sanel and her family live around the block (literally); Jim Tomic ('81) lives across the Bay with his daughter; and Karen Melchior ('83) and her family live 15 minutes south of me. I can't imagine what my life would be like without any of them!
